City plans to turn the Elkhart River green

Elkhart Mayor Tim Neese says the city will be turning the Elkhart River green to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

The Elkhart Fire Department will use green environmental tracing dye, which has been approved for use by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

The city is working with McCarthy's on the Riverwalk to dye the river at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 12 near McCarthy's.

The public is encouraged to attend.
