Cleaning up storm damage in Greene County

GREENE COUNTY, Ind. -- Clean-up is underway in Greene County, near Bloomington after powerful storms moved through overnight packing winds up to 65 miles per hour.

Strong gusts ripped the siding off homes and knocked down trees.

The wind even picked up a lawn mower and tossed it across a yard.

Emergency management thinks the damage was caused by straight line winds.

"We have initially about 13 houses that have been damaged," said Roger Axe, Emergency Management. "We're probably going to find out more as we go through.  We waited until daylight, so we could make a visual survey."

The storms also dumped heavy rains and knocked out power to about 5,000 homes.
