Cleveland Road roundabout construction delayed again as county faces issues with NIPSCO

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Another delay was announced on Friday in the Cleveland Road roundabout construction project and now, county officials are saying NIPSCO is no longer communicating with them.
"I regret to inform you that NIPSCO has failed to meet their commitments once again and the Cleveland Road closure has be postponed until further notice," said Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Growth Project Manager Andrew Hayes.
"Attempts to contact NIPSCO for updates and further information have to date gone unanswered."
Hayes says once the county gets an updated schedule for the remainder of NIPSCO's relocation efforts, the department will announce a revised closure date.
The new closure date will likely affect the date for the re-opening of Cleveland Road, between Ash Road and Bittersweet Road.
NIPSCO had been working to relocate their underground facilities for the new roundabout, with their work originally expected to be done by the end of May.
