CMHU needs help finding vehicle possibly involved in man's death

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The County Metro Homicide Unit is asking for the public's help locating a vehicle that may have been involved in the death of 58-year-old Galacio Sanchez on July 20.

Mishawaka Police responded to Lincolnway West and Logan Street after a man was found on the ground behind a guard rail.

Initially there was no indication his death was suspicious.

The St. Joseph County Coroner's Office examined the body and determined there were injuries that may have contributed to his death.

An autopsy was performed in Fort Wayne on July 21. His cause of death was blunt force injuries.

CMHU was then assigned the investigation.

Investigators confirmed Sanchez was at a bar until approximately 11:45 p.m. on July 19.

It is believed he was walking home when the incident happened because his route home would have taken him past the intersection where he was found, CMHU said.

A vehicle of interest has been developed. Investigators want to speak with the driver of a late model, dark Ford Taurus. It may be missing a passenger side mirror.

CMHU is asking for anyone with any information in this case to contact them at 574-235-5009.
