Coach Niele Ivey named assistant for USA Basketball U18 Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Karen and Kevin Keyes Family Head Coach Niele Ivey has been named an assistant coach for the USA Basketball U18 Women's Junior National Team the organization announced Thursday. 

This will be Ivey's first time as assistant coach for USA Basketball after serving as a court coach for the 2023 USA Women's U19 National Team trials.

Coaching alongside Ivey will be Indiana head coach, Teri Moren, and South Florida head coach, Jose Fernandez.

The 2024 FIBA U18 Women's AmeriCup will take place from June 17-23 at a to-be-determined location.

Team USA is seeking its 11th-straight gold medal.

Ivey is in her fourth year as head coach for Notre Dame with an all-time record of 82-31. She has led the Irish to back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances as well as a 2023 ACC regular season title.

Ivey was ACC Coach of the Year in 2023.

Prior to coaching for the Irish, Ivey was a point guard for the 2001 National Championship team, as well as an assistant coach for the 2018 National Championship team. She is also the common link to all nine of Notre Dame's Final Four appearances. Two as a player, and seven as an assistant.

The Notre Dame men's head basketball coach, Micah Shrewsberry, will also be coaching for USA basketball this summer.

It was announced on February 2 that Shrewsberry would be coaching the 2024 USA Basketball Men's U18 National Team.
