DOWAGIAC, Mich.- The Dowagiac Police Department held its second annual Coffee with a Cop event on Wednesday at Baker's Rhapsody Coffee Shop.
Coffee with a Cop a nationwide event which is typically held at local restaurants within the first week of October.
It offers community members a chance to sit down with local law enforcement officers and build positive relationships with each other.
Cheif Steven Grinnewald of the Dowagiac Police Department said of the event, "I would encourage people to go out and meet their officers, that’s probably the best way that you’re gonna get a good relationship with them, to get to know them- they get to know you and when we’re able to work together and know each other, everything goes better.”
The Dowagiac police hope to host similar community events in the future.
