Cold temps cause traffic lights to fall

South Bend Police are diverting traffic from the intersection of State Road 23 and Edison road after the traffic lights fell and crashed to the ground.

Police got the call around 4:30 Thursday morning.

The city of South Bend issued a statement saying the accident is due to cold temperatures.

The city said stop signs will be posted in meantime, until INDOT can make significant repairs to the signal.

No one was hurt when the lights fell.
