College senior found after being lost on Mount Hood for a week

MOUNT HOOD, Ore. — Mary Owen's family will celebrate Easter with her back home safe.

The college senior went on a hike March 24 on Oregon's Mount Hood.

Sudden whiteout conditions disoriented her, causing her to slip and hurt her ankle.

She was lost and unable to move for a week. Her family feared the worst when she was declared missing.

"We were concerned about the amount of time that she was out there," said Mary's father, Bruce Owen.

All she had for warmth was a thermal poncho. By Wednesday, she had run out of food.
