Common Council could override the location veto of Women’s Care Center

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The South Bend Common Council will hold their vote on a decision on whether or not to override Mayor Pete Buttigeig’s recent zoning veto regarding the Women’s Care Center Monday.

According to the City Clerk’s office, the council should vote on the zoning around 4:50 p.m.

In April, Mayor Buttigeig voted no on the placement of a Women’s Care Center to open next to a proposed women’s clinic.

According to the mayor, the neighborhood would not benefit from having two facilities with opposite commitments on such a controversial subject.

The council meeting is Monday, May 14th at the County-City Building downtown South Bend.
