SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Members of a local church filled backpacks full of school supplies today for the upcoming community block party, when they'll be given out to anyone who needs them.
Thanks to generous donations from its members, Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church will host a community block party this Sunday, August 10.
In addition to giving away supplies, they will also offer free food.
Deb Childs with the church's Impact Ministry says they will have games and a bounce house.
"The idea is to try to commune and fellowship with the people in the area and get to know one another," Childs says, "and let them see what Mount Carmel is doing over here."
The block party will start after church services which will be held outside, starting at 10 a.m.
