The Potawatomi Zoo opens its gates to Zoo Nights Live

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Potawatomi Zoo launched Zoo Nights Live, a new outdoor concert series.

The event ran from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and was free for zoo members and included with regular admission for all other visitors.

The debut show featured City Sun, a local band that performed a mix of original material and cover songs.

"I think a lot of people are super excited. We got quite a few phone calls this morning asking questions about it. It's something that we're able to do for members for free, and just able to offer the community to come out and listen to live music and have fun at the zoo," said Camille Ritchings, the event manager at Potawatomi Zoo.

Ritchings continues to say, "We're looking to build like a permanent stage structure. It's just a great summer night to come out and enjoy the zoo with your family, and have some live music, some good food, and just get to experience the zoo in a different way that you normally wouldn't get to."

A second Zoo Nights Live concert is scheduled for August 22 and will feature the band UltraFab.
