MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The Mishawaka Common Council held a meeting on Monday to hear the concerns of the community regarding a new Menards store that will open in Granger only blocks away from its Mishawaka location.
The meeting lasted nearly two hours with more than two dozen people voicing their disapproval of the new Menards.
The people who are against the move all wore yellow and everyone got a chance to briefly say whether they were for or against the new move.
“I am certainly against a big box store destroying the ambiance of the neighborhood,” one woman who attended the meeting said.
The corner of Gumwood and Cleveland is the location of the proposed new Menards.
An official public hearing will be held on September 3. Menards representatives will be there and the public is invited to voice their concerns on the plan.
This is all taking place before there is an official vote on approving the plan.
