Community voices concern over recent 7-11 robberies

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend Police are investigating a recent string of armed robberies, all of them occurring at the 7-11 convenience store located on the 1800 block of Miami Street

"It's seems like a nice neighborhood sometimes, but lately there's been a lot of robberies," said Joe Mason, a friend of a 7-11 employee recently robbed at gunpoint.

"I don't know what's happening to this area, but it's getting pretty bad," said Rex Rautenkranz, a regular 7-11 shopper.

"They can make it safe if they do the right thing and listen to the community," said Mason.

"Put more cops out here and put more cameras in the store," said Antonio King, another 7-11 regular.

"They need more security is what it is,” said Rautenkranz. “They also need more lighting around here. It's sad, but it's just the way it is I guess."

South Bend Police are still actively searching for the suspects. They ask that anyone with information on either of the two individuals to please contact Crime Stoppers at (574)-288-STOP.
