LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- The Indiana Department of Transportation announced two consecutive road closures on S.R. 4 will begin on or after July 31.
INDOT says S.R. 4 between C.R. 925 E and C.R. 1000 E will be closed through mid-September for a bridge deck overlay preventative maintenance project over the Kankakee River.
S.R. 4 will then close between C.R. 500 E and Taylor Rd through mid-November for a bridge deck overlay preventative maintenance project over the Little Kankakee River.
INDOT originally said these projects would include lane closures and temporary signals directing traffic, but officials say this traffic design was determined insufficient.
Motorists are asked to seek alternate routes.
The official detour will follow S.R. 104, U.S. 6, and S.R. 23.
