Conservation officers investigating death of Chicago man in an Indiana marina

HAMMOND, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is investigating the death of 59-year-old Harold Daniels of Chicago after Daniels fell into the water without resurfacing.

 The incident occurred on Saturday around 11:45 p.m.

Daniels fell into the water along the boat docks at Hammond Marina on Lake Michigan.

Crews were dispatched to recover Daniels. He was found and transported to Franciscan Health Hospital in Hammond where he was later pronounced deceased. 

The investigation is ongoing. 

Agencies that provided assistance include Hammond Police Department, Hammond Fire Department, Lake County Marine Unit, United States Coast Guard, Lake County Coroner's Office.
