BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. – The Napier Avenue Bridge in St. Joseph Township is undergoing construction that will reduce traffic lanes beginning February 1.

According to the Berrien County Road Department, a utility contractor will be working on the bridge over the St. Joseph River in preparation for the Road Department’s bridge project that will take place later in 2021.

Because of this construction, Napier Avenue will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction between Langley Avenue and Miami Road.

Both eastbound and westbound traffic will be split in the two lanes that usually carry eastbound traffic over the bridge.

This construction is expected to take about two weeks to complete.

The Road Department said to expect travel delays, reduce speeds through work zones, and watch out for workers and equipment.
