SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) announced that construction is underway on the largest solar power plant in Indiana.
I&M announced today the St. Joseph solar farm will have a capacity of 20 megawatts, enough to power 2,700 homes each year.
The solar panels are being installed near the Indiana Toll Road between Bittersweet and Cleveland roads in St. Joseph County.
According to a press release, the facility will have approximately 57,000 solar panels when it is complete next year.
I&M currently operates four solar generation facilities, three of which are in Indiana at Marion, Mishawaka and New Carlisle, while the fourth resides in Watervliet, Michigan.
