Convicted child sex offender sentenced in new cases

Drew Damer

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- A Goshen man who was sentenced for having sex with a minor will now serve prison time in two separate cases.

Drew Damer pleaded guilty to Child Molesting in St. Joseph County, with charges of Child Molesting and Sexual Misconduct with a Minor dropped. As part of the plea agreement, he received the maximum sentence of 10 years in prison through the Indiana Department of Correction, with two years suspended.

Court documents state Damer began communicating with a 12-year-old female victim on Snapchat in May of 2024. They agreed to meet at a gas station, before Damer drove her to Heroes Park. The victim agreed to have sex in the back seat, then Damer drove her home.

The victim disclosed that Damer told her he was 17 years old but was 20 at the time of the incident. He told her, “Nobody has to know about this just be quiet,” and “I might get in trouble for this."

Cell phone data shows Damer had been communicating with the victim over the course of two days. Three days after Damer had sex with the victim, a second victim came forward to police, stating she was with Damer and the first victim at a party earlier that evening.

Court documents show the second victim, a 14-year-old girl, observed Snapchat messages between Damer and the first victim, where naked photos of the victim were shared.

The second victim told Damer her age when asked and he "didn't care." Later in the night, the second victim was in a bounce house with another child, when Damer entered and asked the other child to leave. Damer then sexually assaulted the victim.

During their investigation, detectives used Damer's cellphone data and the victims' cellphone data to observe they were in the same location on the same date and time.

Investigators were later told by the second victim that Damer had a list of his "body count" on his phone. After an amended search warrant, investigators found the list on the phone's notes app, which showed a total of 56 girls' names. The list included the names of both victims and prior victims and witnesses involved in Damer's other criminal cases.

During the same time period of this case, a second incident occurred in Goshen with another victim. The 16-year-old girl had been communicating with Damer over text messages.

Police discovered the incident after receiving a search warrant for Damer's cell phone in an unrelated investigation. A video was discovered of Damer having sex with the victim in a vehicle.

Court documents state the victim had met Damer one month prior and knew that he was 20 years old. They had "hung out" several times, where Damer mentioned being "in trouble" for something with an underage girl "a long time ago."

The victim says she agreed to the video and having sex. She had seen the explicit video and asked Damer to send it to her, which she received. Several hours after the video was taken, Damer was in court where he was convicted of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor.

Damer received that charge in November of 2023 after having sex with a 14-year-old girl in the parking lot of Trader Joe's in South Bend. A friend of Damer's told police at the time that Damer would routinely visit the Mishawaka Sky Zone multiple times a week to pick up young girls for sex.

A short time after his conviction in that case, Damer reportedly messaged the 16-year-old girl whom he recorded a video of and discussed his conviction. He revealed that he was on probation and was not allowed to be with children under the age of 16. Several days after the video was recorded, Damer blocked the victim.

Damer was charged in Elkhart County with Child Exploitation and Possession of Child Pornography for this incident. He agreed to plead guilty for the second charge and the first charge was dismissed on Aug. 7. Damer was sentenced the same day to one year in prison which is to be served consecutively to his sentence in St. Joseph County.
