Cop shoots dog after warrant mistake

LEANDER, Texas -- A Texas police officer is in trouble after he shot a family dog while serving a warrant.

The problem is the cop had the wrong house. The person listed on the warrant did not even live there.

The family says they were getting ready for dinner when they heard the gun shot.

Now they want that officer to pay-up.

"This guy that did this, he doesn't need to have a badge or a gun.  He could have so easily shot one of my grandkids," said the dog's owner James Simmons.

The German shepherd will be okay but the family has mounting medical bills.

They want the police officer to pay for it.

The department is looking into it.
