Council members to suggest alternatives for Fellows Street project

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Neighbors along a section of Fellows Street in South Bend will have another chance to voice their concerns about new construction plans.

The project would get rid of 31 homes on their block.

ABC57 News first brought you this story last Thursday. Neighbors were furious saying they had only known for three weeks.

At Thursday’s Redevelopment Commission meeting, Councilman Henry Davis Jr. said Council members will ask the commission to consider alternatives to project.

The plan currently is to knock down the houses to accommodate over-flow traffic. That’s once the state builds its new bridge over the bypass.
