COVID-19 testing site scam

The Better Business Bureau is warning Michiganders about fake COVID-19 testing sites in the state that are using false postings online to scam people into sharing their personal information.

Scammers have been able to acquire the social security number and credit card information of unsuspecting people who are looking to get tested for COVID-19.

The current shortage of COVID-19 test kits and testing sites has given scammers this newest avenue to trick people and get their personal information.

In light of this new scam, the bureau is suggesting that anyone looking to visit or create an appointment at a COVID-19 testing site should confirm the location’s legitimacy with their doctor or the local health department’s website.
