Crime Stoppers' Victory Over Violence program celebrates first year
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Michiana Crime Stoppers is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its Victory Over Violence program, which combats felony crimes with firearms in the community.
Launched on February 1, 2022, the program encourages felony arrests by making all anonymous tips eligible for an automatic $1,000 reward.
Over the past year, Michiana Crime Stoppers has paid a total of eight Victory Over Violence rewards and helped take back 11 illegally possessed firearms.
"I am encouraged to see that this program is already making such an impact in our community," said Michiana Crime Stoppers Coordinator Lt. Kayla Miller. "I am confident it will continue to grow and help play a part in tackling these crimes to make Michiana a safer place to live, work and play."
