INDIANAPOLIS,Ind.--Indiana deer experts are concerned with the presence of Chronic Wasting Disease(CWD) infected deer in neighboring states including Illinois and Michigan, with infected deer being found within 30 miles of the Indiana border.
Experts worry that if CWD spreads further, hunting and hunting related businesses could see a downturn.
While there have been no reports of CWD infected deer in Indiana, characteristics of CWD to look for include: abnormal behavior, loss of bodily function and the appearance of starvation.
Currently, there is no cure for CWD. As such, one way to curb the presence of infected deer is via mass reductions, experts say.
