Danate Lowe sentenced to over 50 years for murder of Edwardo Rivera, shooting of juvenile

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - A 19-year-old South Bend man was sentenced to 53 years for his role in the death of 16-year-old Edwardo Rivera and the shooting of a second juvenile, according to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office.

Danate Lowe was sentenced to 45 years for murder, three years for battery by means of a deadly weapon and five years for a firearm sentencing enhancement.

These sentences will run consecutively.

Rivera died following a shooting on April 12, 2021.

A second juvenile, a 17-year-old male, was injured in the incident, which took place on South Fellows Street.
