Data breach affects medical records
According to the South Bend Medical Foundation, an external portal it uses was targeted. That portal allows patients to access lab tests and results through a site called "My Lab Results." The company that runs it is NoMoreClipboard and is based in Fort Wayne.
On its website, NoMoreClipboard said suspicious activity on a server was first noticed on May 26. Apparently someone gained unauthorized access starting on May 7. At this time it is not known exactly how many patients have been affected.
In a press release, the Medical Foundation said demographic information was compromised not laboratory results or financial records.
Even still, the company NoMoreClipboard is offering credit monitoring and identity protection services for the next 24 months. A toll-free call center is now set up for patients who may have been affected.
NoMoreClipboard has hired an independent firm to look into this breach. Results should be made available by the end of the week.
