The holiday season can be a tough one, especially for those who have recently lost a loved one.
Mental health professionals recommend that if someone is dealing with grief, building a support group can help with the recovery process.
However, experts say it's important to still set boundaries with family and loved ones.
According to Leslie Weirich, the Oaklawn Suicide Prevention Specialist, dealing with grief is not an immediate process.
"Grief is a marathon, it's not a sprint. Once you lose somebody you love, you are not the same. So, I think you find along the way what comforts you," said Weirich, who also recommends that people be gentle with themselves throughout the grieving process.
Experts also recommend that people put themselves first when it comes to dealing with grief.
