Delphi murder suspect requests hearings to be rescheduled

DELPHI, Ind. — According to court filings, Delphi murder suspect Richard Allen has requested his hearings on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to be rescheduled to allow his attorneys more time to prepare.

Court documents state the hearings are to address pre-trial motions about what evidence jurors will be allowed to hear in the trial.

Filings state this includes whether Allen's alleged confession to killing Libby German and Abby Williams on February 13, 2017, is admissible.

It also includes whether prosecutors can use Allen's statements to his state-appointed psychologist while in prison.

The request came three days after jury selection for Allen's trial was set to begin.

Allen's trial was originally scheduled to run through May, but at a May 8, hearing, his attorneys said that wasn't enough time for their defense.
