Demand at AM General up; timing off

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Demand at AM General for its military vehicles is up, but it seems the timing is off.

ABC57 News has learned some AM General workers will have to stay home for about two weeks. A company spokesperson said it's close to finalizing a number of international contracts.

There's major interest in the HMMWV, but until the final papers are signed, the military assembly plant in Mishawaka will shut down for two weeks, that's starting October 1.

The headquarters in South Bend and an engineering plant in Livonia will not be affected.
