Democratic Convention kicks off in Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Democratic National Convention kicks off Tuesday in Charlotte.
One of the party's biggest and most popular stars speaking tonight will be First Lady Michelle Obama.
And the pressure is on.
Analysts say she needs to convince voters her husband is the man who will help the economy recover.
President Obama says he will watch her speech from the White House.
"I'm going to be at home and I'm going to watch with my girls and am going to try not to let them see daddy cry because when Michelle starts talking, I start getting all misty," the president said.
Also taking the stage Tuesday is the mayor of San Antonio, a rising star in the Democratic Party.
Live coverage of the DNC starts at 10 p.m. on ABC57
