Deputies find suspected meth during search
LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. – During the search of a home on S. 600 E. in LaGrange, law enforcement officers discovered items associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, according to reports.
According to reports, on Sunday, LaGrange County deputies, Indiana State Police and Indiana Conservation officers responded to 3600 S 600 E for reports of alleged drug activity.
At the home, they made contact with the homeowner, Candice Benson, who gave officers permission to search the home. Once the meth making materials and drug paraphernalia was located, the homeowner and three visitors were detained while officers obtained a search warrant.
During the search, officers located multiple chemicals used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine in the home and the garage, reports said.
Officers also located a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine, reports said.
The four subjects were transported to LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department on initial charges of :
- Candice Benson: Maintaining a common nuisance D-felony
- Kerri Benson: Possession of methamphetamine D-felony, maintaining a common nuisance D-felony
- Stephanie Gibson: Visiting a common nuisance, a misdemeanor
- Laef Lewis: Visiting a common nuisance, a misdemeanor
Additional charges are pending review by the LaGrange County Prosecutors Office.
