Deputies investigating mail theft from multiple townships

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. -- Deputies are investigating the theft of mail from mailboxes in three townships, according to the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies and Michigan State Police were called to the area of Mintdale and Burg roads on Monday after mail was located in the roadway.

Officers and deputies found mail throughout the area that appeared to have been taken from mailboxes in Florence, Sherman and White Pigeon townships.

Many of the envelopes had been opened and the contents removed.

The mail was turned over to the White Pigeon Post Officer.
