Deputies: Power outage in Michigan City, traffic lights out of order

A power outage occurred near the east side of Michigan City Monday night, leaving residents and drivers in the dark.
The La Porte County Sheriff’s Department says electricity is out as far as County Road 525 West.
The traffic lights at US 20 and US 35 at I-94 are temporarily out of order and deputies ask drivers to use caution when approaching the intersection.
NIPSCO and INDOT have been contacted to restore power to the area.
NIPSCO reports about 700 people have been affected by this outage.
