Deputies release name of man killed in crash involving train

The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department released the name of the man who was killed in a crash involving a train Wednesday evening.

Kosciusko County Deputy Coroner Michael Wilson identified the victim as 40-year-old Joseph Kimmel of Akron, Indiana.

Deputies say their preliminary investigation indicates Kimmel attempted to turn southbound onto SR19 from SR25 in Mentone when his pickup went off the paved portion of the crossing and became stuck on the train tracks.

The truck was then struck by an eastbound Norfolk Southern freight train.
