Deputy saves possible overdose victim

A Berrien County Sheriff's deputy used his department issued Naloxone Hydrochloride to save a man believed to be suffering from a drug overdose.

It was the first time a deputy has used Naloxone Hydrochloride since the department trained deputies on its use and provided the drug to deputies on December 14, 2015.

The deputy was called to a home in Sodus Township on March 9 at approximately 11:20 for reports of a possible overdose victim.

The deputy arrived and discovered a 35-year-old male suffering from an apparent narcotic overdose.

The deputy administered the Naloxone Hydrochloride and the man because responsive.

Medics then transported the man to Lakeland Medical Center for further treatment and evaluation.
