Detroit water shutoff suspended for 15 days

DETROIT -- Detroit's water and sewer department is suspending  its shutoff efforts for 15 days.

They are hoping this will give customers a chance to settle their outstanding bills.

The water department started the shut offs in March to collect nearly $90 million.

They say up to 50-percent of water and sewer bills are past due.
