Discussions on improving Elkhart communities

Elkhart community leaders came together on Monday to discuss ways to improve their communities as part of the county-wide initiative called Vibrant Communities.

It began back in January with the Vibrant Communities kickoff event which drew hundreds of people at the Lerner Theatre.

On Monday, Goshen was the site of the first of the Vibrant Communities conversations which will take place all week long, all around Elkhart.

According to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth, 70 people attended Monday morning’s brainstorming session at the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Ideas included ways to improve transportation, access to locally grown food, and resources for lower income residents, like emergency housing options.

In January, the co-chair of the Vibrant Communities Steering Committee told ABC 57 news people are encouraged to think of little things they’d like to see in their communities but they should also think big.
