Diversified Machine in Bristol to lay off 500 employees

A downsizing at Diversified Machine in Bristol will lay off 500 employees.

In a letter to the Dept. of Workforce Development, the company’s director of operations blames the downsizing on a sudden, unforeseen cancellation with the company’s largest customer.

Starting next week, 500 hourly and salary employees with be let go over the news few months.

Major losses include 330 operators 31 salaried employees and 29 maintenance workers.

Emmanuel Guevara, a single father and employee at Diversified says he’s disappointed.

“It really sucks. I’ve got two girls I’ve got to take care of, and with this it’s going to throw me back a lot,” Guevera said.

Diversified Machine is a division of Chassix, which is located out of Michigan.

Employees say the company they promised to help employees find other jobs.
