DNR finds second body in Leesburg Quarry

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources confirms a second body has been found in the Leesburg Quarry.

The DNR says a witness found ice fishing equipment on the ice next to a large hole Sunday.

The DNR's dive team responded to the scene and conducted an underwater search.

Around 7 p.m. Sunday, the body of 29-year-old Dustin Reaker was recovered.

His companion, 41-year-old Allen Stattler, was not found.

The search ended Sunday evening and resumed Monday morning.

DNR officials say Stattler's body was discovered Monday morning just before noon in the same location Reaker's body was found.

DNR believes one of the victims was trying to rescue the other person after they fell through the ice during their Friday night fishing trip.

The DNR wants everyone to remember to wear a USCG approved lifejacket when on or near the water.
