Dog from Japan ends up in Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. -- Animal shelter workers are trying to figure out how a dog from Japan got to Oregon.

The animal shelter relies on microchips to figure out where lost dogs come from.

This week they came across a dog that was brought in as a stray and its microchip says the dog is from all the way across the Pacific Ocean.

"Our best guess is that he was bred and somehow transferred over to the United States and somehow has lost his owner," said Sasha Elliott, Green Hill Humane Society spokesperson.

The dog's name is Tokyo.

The dog is still looking for a home.
