Domestic situation ends as chase, crash in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – A police chase ended with car parts sprawled across the ground near the intersection of Dale Avenue and Dayton Street late Wednesday night.

According to South Bend Police, an officer was on Lincoln Way East and spotted a vehicle stopped in the middle of the westbound lanes where a woman was trying to pull someone from the vehicle.

While trying to assess the situation, the passenger of the vehicle, 51-year-old Stevie Dean, allegedly took off running. He was detained and later arrested for resisting arrest.

Police say the woman, 41-year-old Natasha Jones, allegedly sped away from the officers in the vehicle, leading law enforcement on a short pursuit. The chase ended when Jones crashed through a fence on Dayton Street and proceeded to drive to a nearby road.

Jones was arrested for driving while intoxicated, resisting law enforcement, and leaving the scene of an accident.
