In Indiana, 42.5% of women will experience physical violence, sexual violence or stalking in some point in their lives. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and ABC57 is interviewing experts within the community about signs on domestic violence and how to help those in need.
Newly released statistics show that in 2019, police responded to 1,657 call for domestic disturbances. In 2020, the number of calls went up to 1,931. As of October of this year, Elkhart Police have received 1,588 calls for domestic disturbances.
