Dowagiac Police investigating threats at Dowagiac schools
DOWAGIAC, Mich. -- Dowagiac Police responded to two separate threats at Dowagiac Union High School and Dowagiac Middle School on Tuesday.
A student found a threat of violence written on a bathroom wall at the high school around 10:10 a.m. The threat of violence was going to happen on Wednesday.
Police secured the building and stayed on campus throughout the day.
Police were also sent to the middle school to provide a security presence although there were no threats at that time.
Around 1:45 p.m. police were advised a threat was found written on a bathroom wall at the middle school.
The threat stated someone was going to blow up the school.
Police developed a suspect, a middle school student, and the student's parents were contacted and responded to the school.
The student allegedly admitted to making the threat, but police determined the threat was not credible.
The student was released to a parent and the investigation will be handed over to the Cass County Prosecutor's Office for review.
Both incidents remain under investigation.
Dowagiac Schools will be cancelled tomorrow due to threat investigation.
