Dowagiac teacher under investigation after "sexting" students

A Dowagiac English teacher is under investigation after being accused of writing inappropriate messages to his students.

Many parents are shocked to hear it. After getting over the initial shock, though, one mother told ABC57 News it sounds horrible,

Dowagiac Union High School Teacher Jacob McCauley is out of the job and under police investigation after resigning in August without any severance benefits. This after numerous students came forward saying he’d asked them on dates or had made sexual advances over messages through social media sites. The English teacher had been employed at the high school since 2010. He was also the advisor of the school paper.

The superintendent of Dowagiac Union Schools, Paul Hartsig sent us this statement:

Dowagiac Union Schools takes allegations of misconduct by employees very seriously and we do everything in our power to investigate them thoroughly. Student welfare and education is our number one priority.
