Driver cited in one-vehicle injury crash

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- Deputies responded to a report of a one-vehicle injury crash on Sunday around 1:07 a.m., according to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office.

Officials say the crash occurred at the intersection of County Road 16 and Thomas Court, less than a half-mile outside of the Elkhart city limits.

The driver, a 39-year-old woman from Elkhart, allegedly drifted left of the center line and ran off the north side of the road, striking two mailboxes, a street sign and finally a tree, according to deputies.

The vehicle suffered heavy damage and the driver was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with complaints of chest pain.

She was cited by deputies for driving left of center, according to the sheriff's office.
