ELKHART, Ind - This morning an SUV crashed into a Chase Bank leaving a hole in one of its walls. It happened at the branch on Cassopolis street in in Elkhart.
“OK, well the situation here is. We have uh full size SUV it looks like a Yukon 1300 uh into the bank.” Is what an official dispatched regarding the scene. “We’re closing the bank and having it evacuated.”
Video from a viewer shows multiple emergency vehicles at the bank.
Josh Sanders was on the road heading to a restaurant when he captured the scene on his phone.
“There was a big hole in the wall, and they already had the truck up on the tow truck,” he said. “I was just thinking wow. I was just wondering if it was intentionally or if it wasn’t.”
ABC57 is still working to learn from officials what exactly happened. Right now officials say that nothing was criminal, and there were no major injuries.
Restoration crews now have the hole in the wall boarded up.
ABC57 also reached out to chase bank for a statement, but have not heard back.
