Driver facing charges after rear ending horse and buggy
LA GRANGE COUNTY, Ind. -- A driver is facing charges after allegedly hitting a horse drawn buggy on US 20 Wednesday afternoon, according to the La Grange County Sheriff's Department.
The crash happened in the 100 block of W. US 20 around 4:30 p.m.
The driver of a GMC Terrain, 31-year-old Aaron Winans, told deputies he fell asleep and rear ended a buggy with six passengers.
Four of the passengers were injured and were taken to the hospital, including a 3-year-old with a possible head injury.
Winans was taken to the hospital for a blood and urine draw.
Winans was arrested on preliminary charges of operating while intoxicated with controlled substance, OWI refusal, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.
