CASS COUNTY, Mich. --- One person was injured in a crash in Porter Township Saturday morning.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 1:20 a.m. in the 69000 block of South River Road in Cass County.

Authorities say 34-year-old Joshua Lee Austin of Hudson, Indiana was traveling southbound on South River Road when he failed to round a curve.

After leaving the roadway, Austin struck a chain link fence and tree.

As a result of the crash, Austin suffered an injury to the head and was taken to Elkhart General Hospital by Porter Township Ambulance.

Officials say a seatbelt was not worn at the time of the crash and alcohol doesn’t appear to be a factor.

The case is under investigation.
