Driver injured after crashing into tree on Glenwood Road

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- A driver was injured when his pickup truck struck a tree on Glenwood Road Wednesday morning, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called to Glenwood Road, north of Marcellus Highway around 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Deputies said 39-year-old Jon Carl Harwood was traveling northbound on Glenwood Road at a high rate of speed when he lost control and his vehicle struck a tree, deputies said.

He was extricated from the vehicle and transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Harwood was wearing his seatbelt and police said alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
