Driver injured, cited for disregarding stop sign following two-vehicle crash

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection Old US Highway 20 and C.R. 1 on Monday around 3:19 p.m.
The report states a 2017 Chevy Malibu, driven by 63-year-old Ralf Schaper of Osceola, disregarded a stop while turning east onto Old US Highway 20 from C.R. 1.
Authorities say Schaper was then struck by a 2014 Chevy Silverado, driven by a 57-year-old Osceola man, traveling west on Old US Highway 20 through the intersection.
Schaper was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for complaints of pain in his left arm, while his passenger, a 60-year-old Osceola woman, was treated at the scene for a laceration to her left arm.
The driver of the Silverado was uninjured.
Schaper was cited for Having No Insurance and Disregarding a Stop Sign.
