Driver injured in collision with dump truck

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a serious injury accident on US12 near Franklin Road that involved a vehicle and a dump truck.

The accident happened at approximately 7:45 a.m.

Deputies say Laura Wilken was driving east on US12 while Corey Hojara was driving his loaded dump truck west on US12 when one of the vehicles crossed the center line.

Wilken had to be extricated from her vehicle. She was taken by MedFlight to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

Hojara was taken by ambulance to Lakeland Hospital in Niles for minor injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
